Dunn on Purpose Podcast

The Dunn on Purpose Podcast exists to Encourage, Enrich, and Empower you to live your life On Purpose. In addition to solo episodes that connect to the Dunn On Purpose Newsletter, you’ll hear Aaron Dunn have conversations with coaches and other individuals who exemplify what it means to live on purpose and exhibit “Strong Com”.

“Com” is the root word for ‘together’, or ‘in common’. This podcast is founded upon the “Three C’s” which stand for: Strong Communication + Strong Community = Strong Company. #StrongCom

Through conversations with Local Leaders and exploration into a variety of topics including how we optimize our energy, work, and love to live a life in pursuit of our best selves, we learn so much about how we can improve how we communicate to ourselves and to others and co-create community so that we can make an impact where we are, and all grow stronger as a result.

**Celebrating Growth: A Reflection on My Journey**

Welcome to a space, where I want to take a moment to celebrate the growth and development that my business has achieved in reaching others. As I reflect on this journey, I’m reminded of where it all began—living in a commune that provided shelter to individuals who were homeless. I was hired as a helping hand, and in exchange for that work, I was given a place to live. That experience was foundational, shaping my understanding of community, connection, and service.

Fast forward to a pivotal moment: receiving a Facebook message from an old high school colleague who owned a trucking company in White Oak, Texas. He reached out and said, “Hey, I want you to come and speak about communication with your drums to my staff.” On the surface, this might seem like an odd fit—imagine a Black man with dreadlocks, who has made his living speaking about drumming, mental health, holistic wellness, encouragement, and mentorship, stepping into a trucking company. But I was welcomed with open arms, and for that, I am deeply grateful.

This experience was phenomenal, allowing me to be transparent, facilitate dialogue, and create a space for education and love. The conversation we cultivated was more than just words; it was a shared experience that left a lasting impact. Through this opportunity, I connected with Aaron Dunn, a name I knew well before he invited me to be on his podcast, *Strong COM*.

I recall sitting in Nacogdoches, Texas, watching Aaron’s work from afar in Tyler, Texas, and then realizing that this moment was an example of speaking things into existence—manifestation, if you will. It doesn’t matter what term we use—manifestation, flourishing, or any other phrase—we waste too much time debating semantics when the essence remains the same. Checkout what went down here

Now, let’s shift to the heart of what I want to discuss: communication. Two essential elements in this dialogue are listening and responding. First and foremost, I encourage everyone to take the time to simply close their mouths and open their ears. Whether you’re part of a conversation or just observing, strive to understand the other person’s viewpoint and concerns.

By doing so, you may begin to process the matters of their heart and how your actions or words might be affecting them. If you’re in a relationship that you value, remember that listening is crucial—you could be doing more harm than good by not truly hearing the other person.

Secondly, always respond in love. If you’re unsure what that means, I’m here for a conversation. Feel free to tap in with me anytime.

But let’s not forget the most important relationship of all—the one you have with yourself. How you talk to yourself is the most profound act of love you can give. Speak to yourself kindly. I want to leave you with something to ponder: what you say to yourself matters deeply, but so does what you choose not to say.

In this journey of growth and connection, remember that the dialogue we have with ourselves sets the tone for every other conversation we engage in. Take care of that inner dialogue, and the rest will follow.
