In 2002, the moment of growing into the academy. one of the most monumental movies for my existence was released: “Drumline,” starring Nick Cannon. This film wasn’t just entertainment; it was a revelation. At the time, I was living in the small town of Liberty City, Texas, known locally as Sabine. I was part of a humble percussion section of three, dreaming of being on a grand Drumline—a whole different world, a different beast altogether.
